At first look I found grade 2 science to be a bit boring in comparison to grades 1 and 3, but when I started digging into it I found that you can do some pretty fun activities.  I have taught this curriculum 3 times (although once it was to only 5 students).  I found that the students really liked exploring the different states of matter, which really helped to rope them in for the year.

I find that in grade 2 there is a wide range of literacy ability, and that really affects the ability of the students to do some of the activities I presented them.  However, being an intermediate teacher, I am sure you know more about that then I do.  As for testing, I do it the same way I do for grade 1, which you can read above.

I do have marking schemes for some of the tests, but often I would just end up using this rubric, as it was basic enough to work for all of them.

If you are strapped for time, I am sure you could combine some activities from Liquids and Solids with Air and Water, but I have tried to make them separate.

In the movement unit, the student page and lesson plan numbers do not match up at the end.  Some of the lessons took more than one period, but it is easy enough to match them up.

The last unit I teach is Growth and Changes in Animals.  I have never fully got through all of the ideas you will find on the webpage, so there may be some errors (typos, etc) through the activities.  Also, in this unit, I have some really cool videos for each of the classifications of animals.  However, the site I downloaded them from has taken them off.  I have looked into trying to post them somewhere, but they are just too large.  Basically, the videos discuss features of the animal group, as well as habits, etc.  The videos I use are fairly detailed, they are not the type of video that is narrated by some cartoon bee.  I find the kids respect the realness of them, and it helps them to understand that there are two sides to nature, animals are not always nice to each other.
