Weekly Quiz.  We will have a weekly quiz this year, in an attempt to help you keep on top of the learning.  The quiz questions are posted outside of my room, as well as here, approximately 5 days prior to the quiz.

Assignments.  These are the assignments that have been assigned for this unit. If there is no due date set, you will not submit it, simply complete it and have it in your binder.

Fluids Title Page

Assigned: Dec 8th

Due: With Binder

You are required to make a title page for the start of this unit. The page must have the word "Fluids" on it and at least four relevant pictures. It is up to you to decide what else you would like to do to it.
   
Flow Rate Experiment

Assigned: Dec 14th

Due: Dec 21st

This was a collaborative experiment, for which you were divided into small groups, each to test a set of three fluids to collect data that would determine their flow rate.  The entire classes data was compiled in a digital document, which was then shared with you.  Individually you were to use the data to perform the necessary calculation, create a graph and answer a series of questions.  The document is found on your Google Classroom.
   
Ketchup and Viscosity

This task was to write a short paragraph, dealing with the following:
Determine why someone working quality control at a Heinz ketchup factory would need to concern themselves with viscosity.
   
Flow Rate

Assigned: Dec 20th

Due: Jan 10th

This assignment was posted in the Google Classroom.  In class we took data about the flow rate of 6 fluids.  That data is posted, along with four discussion questions.  You were to perform some calculations with that data, plot a graph, and answer the questions.  This assignment is to be submitted digitally, do not print.  All of the instructions are found on the back of your flow rate experiment sheet.
   
Viscosity Questions

Assigned: Dec 19th

For this task you were given a period to work on a series of review questions having to do with viscosity.  Any questions not done were to be completed as homework.  The answers were posted online, you are to check your answers, comparing to what is posted, asking questions about anything that is not understood.
   
Determining Density

Assigned: Jan 9th

Due: With Binder

This experiment involved taking known quantities of a specific substance and measuring the mass.  The data was then used to calculate the density of that substance.  The information from each of the groups in class was used to rank the different substances we used.  Here is a copy of the worksheet, here is the data we acquired.
   
Fluids Math

Assigned: Jan 16th

Due: With Binder

This sheet was a series of questions, some written answer, some math based, that covered the concepts of flow rate, density and buoyancy.  You were given a full period to work on it, at which time it became homework.  Answers were later posted online, and copies of the answers were provided as reference in the classroom.
   
Pressure

Assigned: Jan 23rd

For this task you were to answer four math style pressure questions.  The sheet was started in class, but needed to be finished as homework.  Answers were later posted online, and copies of the answers were provided as reference in the classroom.
   
Compressibility

Assigned: Jan 25th

Due: With Binder

This documentation sheet accompanied our experiment performed with the water bottles.  Groups were to squeeze water bottles filled with various substances, in order to determine how much smaller they could make the volume.  The sheet was used to provide instructions, and as a format to record observations.
   
Hydraulics/ Pneumatics

Assigned: Jan 30th

Due: With Binder

This experiment involved using syringes to look again at compressibility, and also to look at how a fluid will transmit a force.  You were given four scenarios to setup with the syringes, and then through playing with the systems you could make observations about how the fluids were being used.
   
Unit Review

Assigned: Feb 10th

Due: Feb 17th

With our test coming up in two weeks, you were given a 17 questions unit review.  You were provided an entire period to work on the questions, and the rest was to be completed as homework.  The answers to the review will be shown in class one week following the work period.  Those who do not complete the review will be asked to sit in the hall and do so while the rest of us discuss the answers.
   
Oil Spill Cleanup Methods

This sheet was used to record information about the different oil spill cleanup methods that were presented by your peers.  You were simply to listen to the presentations, and record the required information on the sheet.
