Definitions Page (found here) Equations Page (found here) Name That System (Explanation found on page 8 of lesson 1) Work Questions (found on page 10 of lesson 2) Work, Efficiency and Mechanical Advantage Calculations (a copy may be found here) Simple Machine Experiment Documentation (information found in lesson 7)
This list is now complete.

Weekly Quiz. We will have a weekly quiz this year, in an
attempt to help you keep on top of the learning. The quiz concepts
are posted outside of my room, as well as here, approximately 5 days prior
to the quiz. This week (March 12th) Your quiz this week will be based on the levers. You will need to know information about and the difference amongst the three classes of lever. Next week (March 26th) For your quiz this week you will need to know how to determine mechanical advantage of different types of simple machine.

Assignments. These are the assignments that have been assigned for
this unit. If there is no due date set, you will not submit it, simply
complete it and have it in your binder. Note: Dates that assignments were assigned are approximate, as I teach four classes, and not on the same day. |
||
Name that System Assigned: Feb 24th Due: Next Class |
This task involved picking a system (any system other than a garden) and listing the five features for that system (purpose, input, output, components, processes).
Work Questions Assigned: Feb 25th Due: Next Class |
In class you were presented with 5 questions to help you check your understanding of the content from lesson 2. The answers to these questions are posted at the end of the lesson, so you can check how you did.
Work, Eff. and Mech. Adv. Calculations Assigned: March 3rd/4th Due: One Week |
For this assignment you were given a series of questions covering the concepts we have looked at so far in this unit. The concepts covered are Work, Efficiency, and Mechanical Advantage. You have one week to complete and submit the questions. Please recall that in class I indicated that the last question is a high level 4 question, not all students will be able to solve it. However, my expectation is that all students have something for the question, whether it be an attempt at the math, or a written explanation of what you think you would need to do to solve it.
